porper boot retainer 4-speed

  • What's the proper piece to put around the shifter on a late '66 4 speed without a console? The simple small chrome boot retainer that does not screw into place, or the larger base plate with the 4 screws?

    Thanks,

    Troy

  • Cool - That's what I thought. Boy, it doesn't give you much wiggle room/error when triming the new carpet install though!

  • While we are on this topic, how can I determine if

my retainers are original or not. Have three that are all

stamped on the bottom, C-4ZB-7262-B, Don't know why a stroke

between C and 4. They are also stamped with a PP just above

the C-4 number. Somebody told me that this is a repo as

the PP means Pro-Products or something. Is this correct. I have

had one of these since the 70's.

    Thanks,

    Bo

I have an NOS one in the Ford box plus a good used one and they both have the same markings as yours.
