• Hi Guys. I just found this site and am looking forward to re-learning stuff about the K-codes. I own a 93 SVT Cobra, something I've had tons of fun with. But it's time for something old. I've found an original, somewhat low miles, 66 K Coupe, that I hope to go look at soon. I'm hoping you guys can give me some pointers on what I should pay close attention to. Going back to high school days (mid 70's), I've wanted a hi-po 289 Mustang. With a little luck, I'm going to make this happen.

    Thanks

    Henry

Beyond matching mechanicals (i.e VIN stamps on fender apron, engine block & trans etc, etc, tin termites (rust) is a real problem, and of course NH winters and road chemicals are not friendly to any steel body. Frame rails, bottoms of doors/quarter panels, the cowl area, are all areas that neeed close inspection. Virtually everything sheet metal, is avialable in the aftermarket, and of course donor car parts.

Not trying to put you off, but as youngster I lived and went through high school in the Fremont, Kingston area, and I know how bad corrosion can be.

If you would like to jaw bone in depth, shoot me an email.

  • Thanks for the welcome. I just recieved Tony's book, so I can refresh my long lost knowledge of these cars/motors. I'm sure there's some good stuff that will be new to me too.

Charlie, thanks for the pointers. Rust is something I'm all to familiar with. But it's always good to know specific places to focus on.

DMS (dunc289) what do you have? Feel free to email me at henry.blau@gmail.com if you want. I'm always up for having options.

    Thanks

    Henry
