Welcome and sounds great! I think your situation was very similar to mine and buying direct from Waldron was a very good experience. I also had the 2" exit on the resonators and had my muffler shop rebend things a little so it would go straight through the rear valance rather than make all the bends on the stock GT setup. Love the Arvinode!

I ended up replacing the fuel pump, the fuel tank, and blew out the lines and all seems well and happy! Thanks for the advice from all who responded. Now I have another part to keep clean - the new fuel tank (I didn't worry too much with the original as it was undercoated)!

I went to a car show (5th annual Shelbyfest in Hermann MO) on Saturday. Normally when I go to a show in the '65 Koupe it is the only K code at the show but there were 2 others at the show this past Saturday. They were '67's and were newly completed restorations that looked great and both owned by the same guy. Both were Nightmist Blue with black interior and one a 4 speed and the other an automatic. Beautiful cars but I did not have my camera with me so not pics - sorry about that! There was also a fully restored '67 Shelby GT350 (another beautiful car) and I noticed for the first time that the '67 Shelby did not incorporate the Tri-Y headers like the 65 and 66 models. Not a judged show so it was very enjoyable!

My '65 Koupe seems to be having intermittant fuel starvation. I have not driven it a lot (maybe 300 miles) since the engine rebuild and took it to a show about an hour away yesterday. It rand fine going to the but on the way home it seemed to vapro lock on me. Part of the trip was on a curvy road and involved a fair amount of heavey acceleration between curves and it ran just fine even when I would really get on it. Then we (traveling sith some in Mustang club) got on the highway and when I would reach cruising speed (70mph) it would stall then start then stall then start etc. like it was starving for gas. I was showing a littloe over 1/4 tanks and the gauge seems to be fairly accurate. The car never died but I had to pull to the shoulder a couple of times and pump it a little to keep it running then it would smooth out and fun ok until I reached scruising speed again. We pulled off and I filled the tank and started up again and it sputtered again when I first got back on the highway but then it settled in and I could cruise and even ran it up to 80 - 85 without any further problems all the way home (about 25 miles).

Today I pulled the fuel filter and it had some sediment in it but not too terribly bad. However there was a fairly good amount of sediment in the bottom of the canister (maby a half a teaspoon) and it was mostly a dark brown power sith something mixed in that appeared to be brass shavings - not a lot but there none the less. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to fix it? Is what I describe from the dirty fuel filter or is it vapor locking?

    Thanks

Looks like a good restoration/rebuild and I will try to get by there to check it out also. I do not believe Fast Lane does complete restorations so they probably picked it up at an auction, bought it form someone who restored it, or it is there on consignment.

Thanks, I had not considered that they may have been on a Cobra. If he wants to sell the heads does it matter whether they are off of a Fairlane or a Cobra? If so, is there a way to tell which they may have been on?

I was just at a friends house and he has a matched, pretty well unmolested, set of early HIPO heads. One is a "19" and the other is a "21" cast number and both are dated 3M23. Would these be for an early Mustang application?

I installed the Arvinode exhaust system on my kar several months before my engine rebuild and I couldn't understand why people would have complained about the loud exhaust sound form the original Arvinode systems back in the day. After the rebuild it can understand as my exhaust sound has definately increased to the level that some would say is "loud" and "agressive"<img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>. I guess the increased exhaust sound is due to the better compression from the new forged pistons and new valves or is there some other explanation? <img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
