DSO code 89 define

My cars DSO is 89 which is TRANSPORTATION SERVICE. now what does that actuly means? Where, and what was my car used for back in the day? can anyone help? Puzzeled<img src=images/icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>...... oh by the way my car is a dearborn car, 64.5 18F June thanks

Some of those with the 89 DSO were ordered by other Ford owned companies like Philco-Ford (later Ford Aerospace). At the Western Development Labs in Palo Alto, CA, we had an on-site garage that did prep work on new cars leased by employees under the "B" plan and then performed service on the cars until they were turned in the following year. I remember a friend's 1969 Mach I 428CJ that he leased for $64 a month including insurance. The turned in cars could be "tagged" by employees, and if they went untagged, were wholesaled to local Ford and Mercury dealers for resale.

Come on guys help out here. Thank you jwc66k. that was interesting info. In 64.5 Ford put that 89-code on for a reason. there has to be a good, solid answer where they went and what the use of the car was for. Anyone else with the 89-DSO code can you tell me what you heard about the code. I know everyone has their opinon, but i'm craving to know whats right. HELP ha ha thanks Guys.

Hi how many cars have that DSO 89? Is it that RARE of a CODE that no one had cars like that. I have never seen that code on a car. to bad the Marti report can't break it down. So I guess it is a RARE car. Good luck getting the info you need. Sorry I cant help.

Kevin Marti's "By the Numbers" book has production broken down by DSO on 67-73. For DSO 89 in '67, there were a total of 2,703.

I had a 1966 Sauterne Gold black pony interior Hipo GT convertible that was an 89 DSO.

I have a loaded A code '66 GT convert that has 89 as DSO.Car is signalflare red with parchment pony interior and air as some of the options.....Greg

There were a couple of meanings for that particular 89 beginning code.Either it was one of the big wig Ford guys company car (home office order) which were either given or their order or general public special order and most were the later.Most were also followed by four other numbers but not all!
