hipo fender badges

  • I went to the Greenwood Car Show in Seattle with my 66 restomod 'vert, and joined the Shelby club with its hand full of very nice important Cars [ the first Shelby!! ]. After walking the mile and a half of cars, I reflected on a 66' mustang convertible...It was a " T " code....with a 289 [ small balancer] in it and High Performance 289 badges on the fenders...

My " T " code vert, while sporting Hipo style drivetrain [ 289/347 stroker, 9" track-lock, etc.,etc.} has NO engine badges of any kind on the fenders, and my window info spells out the rebuild on a ordinary chassis with no claims to a V-8, let alone a HiPo....

There must be considerable " benefit " to be gained from the badges alone....

  • I didn't think folks were still doing that, it seemed pretty popular to do in the 80s and 90s-just pry off the standard "289" emblem and slip the Hipo badges behind it.......

  • Like, there were NO real hipos...I hope to go to the Roundup in Bellvue in July...I've spoken to one other member, a local, and we plan to hook up to drive in together....anyone else? We might get a separate area if we have more present.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

when he had bought it 3 years ago.

Just a way to personalize your mustang. No different than steel style wheels on a hubcap equipped car. No harm no foul.

Can't say I agree with that...The type of wheels doesn't define which engine is under the hood. To me, it's like putting HEMI badges on a regular Mopar with a worked motor. What's the point?

  • I have to agree with Gene; putting HiPo badges on a car is a representation that the car is a high performance Mustang. Wheels are another story as different syles were available as options on all of the cars.

  • Nice pic, great to have the young men involved in Mustangs too.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • before he was 16

we had decided to get him a 'project' car

we went thru muscle car books

    and found the 'perfect' car...

    his '66 C code!!
