I'm Guity !

  • I'm Guity of procrastinating! Today, after nearly 1 1/2 years I had the reproduction exhaust system installed. Today is also the first time in 1 1/2 years that I have driven the car.

  • We have a saying over here 'you need to get out more'

You 'really need to get out more'

  • Your leaving out the best part...... how did it drive, how did it sound, you know , things like that.....we need more info!!!

  • Don forgot to mention that this is not just any reproduction exhaust but rather the Arvinode system made by Waldrons with Dave Wallace providing the impetus to make it all come together. Bring your old rag top by the LZ on Saturday and I will test it out for you at no charge. I'll even give you a free ride up the hill to celebrate your accomplishment.

  • Fred,

You are more than welcome to "test drive" it anytime. I'm planning on being there tomorrow.

For those that don't know about Fred's other passion - he is a Master Hang Glider pilot that does a lot (~200 per year) tandem flights with "students" (I call them "tourists"). If any of you ever get out to So. Cal. and have a burning desire to "run off a mountain" - Fred is the man to see to make your desire come true.

It is because of Fred's periodic "nagging" that I finally got around to finishing the installation. The car runs find - fun as always. In some respects it's more fun than the '62 Corvette. It was about 80 degrees yesterday - perfect for cruising.

Different cars - different memories. The '62 is a memory of our former neighbors that were like a second set of parents. The '65 is a memory of my first job at a hot dog joint - one of the co-owners had a first generation Mustang - white, fastback, 4 speed, 289 (probably not a K) and he let me drive it ONCE!

Now all I have to do is get the stereo hooked up.

All beginng to make sense now - sleeps in the garage, then gets up and runs off a mountain.

I see the men in white coats coming any day now !!!

  • Mark, The men in the white coats don't bother me. It would only worry me if I woke up to a rescue person looking over me.

In regards to Dons Arvinode system, I did drive his Kar today and it was great. The noise level does not seem much louder than my 66 factory Hipo muffler and resonator assemblies. His system does start rapping some at higher RPMs but that is just cool!! I am surprised that the people that owned these Kars when new would have complained about the noise enough to cause Ford to replace their mufflers at that time. What a bunch of wusses!! The muffler system on a Barracuda "S" model was noisier in my opinon.

    That review is very interesting.

I bought a couple of Magnaflow universal mufflers as a stopgap measure to get rid of the rattly mufflers I had.

My car is just a smidge too late for Arvinode - but you never know
