Dynamat sound deadener

I'm think of pulling the interior of my 65 fastback and installing some kind of product like dynamat. I'm interested in knowing how those that have used these kinds of products like the results and about how much they ordered to do the job. I'm somewhat concerned about carpet fit after installation also. Thanks,

One thing I know about Dynamat is that it's very expensive. I'd be interested in hearing from others that have used it or similar products. I was thinking of adding some to my fastback when it goes back together.

I have not used either product, but here is a comparison with Lizard Skin.

I've always wanted to use it, but was afraid it would detract from the cars value.

I installed Dynamat Extreme in my '66 FB, including under the headliner. I bought three boxes of the bulk material, and had about half a box left over. The materials were something like $500 total (maybe less), purchased on eBay. I did not view that as "expensive", since I believe it to be one of the best products and I was installing it in locations that I would not be able to get to later. If you are going to all the trouble to do this, seems worth it to do it right.

Dynamat Xtreme is .45#/sq. ft., so in my case I probably have less than 45# of the material installed. I can't comment on the final result yet, as I have only just finished the car and have not had it on the road. The "thump test" indicates that the panels, especially the roof, are now well damped and not tinny like before. I am also hoping to get some heat insulation from this stuff on my Dark Ivy Green car. (not a kar, just an A-code<img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>)

Question: Does this product hold enough moisture / humidity that it could possibly promote the growth of mold, mildew, or rust?

I can't imagine this being a problem. The product is a foil material with a dense mastic material bonded to it. Almost like tar and not porous.

Anyone ever try to remove the stuff - do you have to heat it?

Seen on cars in yards - heavy and hard as a rock. Tried to pry it off and left a dent in the panel (trunk lid) and the stuff did not let go
