<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>You are bidding on an original 1965 Ford Mustang GT with K code motor. The transmission is a manual 4 speed. The car has been restored to the original factory specifications with original paint color of Wimbledon White. The new paint is in great shape and there is no rust anywhere. The interior is the original factory color of Palomino Crinkle Vinyl. The GT options are the factory disc brakes, instrument cluster, original badging, star washers on fenders, HI PO 289 K code motor and trumpet exhaust tips. The only item that I know of that is not numbers matching is the carburator which can be bought with numbers to make complete. I installed an am fm radio but I have the original factory am radio. This car has new interior. The only non factory interior item is rear seatbelts that I installed so that I could take my kids for rides.

The data plate shows 2 door Hardtop with standard interior. Factory color of Wimbledon White and trim package of Palomino Crinkle Vinyl. DSO of Denver built February 14, 1965 with a 4 speed manual transmission.

    The VIN is 5F07K634945.

This is a great collectible car. I get comments everywhere I go and it drives perfect. I was collecting but I do not have enough room and I have another car coming from the body shop and need to make room in garage. I will answer any questions that you have.

This 1966 Fastback project was <b>SOLD</b> for a surprising $22,621.00 by eBay seller "pennyfinger".

    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>:

This car has never been available for sale to the public before. It was special ordered at the original owner's uncle's Ford dealership. After being driven for many years, he used it to secure a loan from a family member. His aunt is now well into her 80's, and desires to convert the car into money to offset medical expenses of a family member.

This car has been kept in a shed with one end open for about 17 years, and the hood and front bumper show it. It has only one coat of factory paint, and although most of the GT trim is intact, the exhaust trumpets are missing. It has never seen salt or been in a major collision, but there are some parking lot dents. There is little or no rust, and needs no rust repair or metal replaced. All the glass is good, and most interior parts are survivor grade or better, but the driver's seat cover needs repair.

This is a highly optioned car that ran when parked many years ago. I turned the motor by hand, but have made no attempt to start it. Factory 271 hp 289, disc brakes, 4 speed transmission, posi rear axle, Pony Interior, Ralley Pac (stolen in shed), wood grain wheel, GT package, 2+2 fastback. This car may have a Boss 302 short block, and does have after market intake and carb.

    <b>DESCRIPTION</b>:

Hello, what I have here is a very rare but very rough car. This is a 1965 Ford Mustang K Code Convertible. These cars restored are bringing close to $100K, and a non matching non California car just sold for almost $50K on ebay last week. This one will require a lot of work, but it is a real California built K code Convertible with a very reasonable reserve. I bought this car with the intentions of rebodying it and keeping it, but regretfully I am having to sell it. All of the door glass and side glass is original and in good condition, along with the trim around the glass. The windshield trim is also in excellent shape. The original HIPO frame engine mounts are still there. There is no motor, trans, or rear end. The convertible top frame is still there, along with the original 4 speed pedal assembly. This car was originally Champagne Beige with Palomino interior. It has a build date of March 2 1965. Being a San Jose built car, it does not have a buck tag. I do have the original door tag, which is the greyish colored one because it is an early 65 car. I also have a title for the car. All of the original VIN numbers are present which are stamped on various places under the hood. The car could possibly be clipped but it would take a lot of work and would probably need to be rebodied. This is a project car and will need to be trailered home. I reserve the right to end the auction early. I am in NW Georgia about 1 1/2 hour North of Atlanta GA. The numbers off of the door plate are:

    Body: 76A

    Color: l

    Trim: 29

    Date: 02Q

DSO: 75 (I cannot find any book or website with a dso code 75 for a 1965 mustang but I have the tag in my hand and I have looked at it numerous times the door plate is in very good condition and it clearly is a 75 for the dso code. any info would be appreciated.)

    Axle: 5

    Trans: 5

    VIN: 5R08K194XXX

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> K-Code Mustang convertibles seldom come up for sale but few realize how rare these cars really are. In 1965 Ford made 606,000 Mustangs. Of these only 7,273 were equipped with the 289 High-Performance package. The Ford records identifying how each car was optioned have been lost but the High-Performance Mustang Guide estimates that only 20% or 1454 of the High-Performance packages were convertibles. As convertibles have much shorter lives than coupes or fastbacks and it would be reasonable to assume that fewer than 1000 of these cars survive today. This is one such survivor.

The car was purchased new in Richmond, VA and driven for some time there. In the 1970’s it was parked in a barn and stayed there until a son-in-law of the original owner resurrected the car in the late 1990’s. The car was restored to very good daily driver condition by him in the early 2000’s

The son-in-law installed a rebuilt 1969 302 engine but kept the original Hi-Po exhaust manifolds. The remainder of the drive train has the original bell housing, HEH top loader 4-speed transmission, drive shaft and 9 inch rear end assembly.

The lower quarters were replaced and it was repainted, not the original Caspian Blue, but a Ford Mustang production blue from a late 1990’s model. He left the original black standard interior alone but added a leather cover and padding to the dash. The floors and torque boxes appear to be in good shape. The car retains the Hi-Po unique bumper plate for the differential nose as well as the hanger bracket for the left side exhaust and the factory relocated bracket for the rear brake line. Since purchasing the car in 2005 I have added new springs and shocks, upper A arms and a new top along with a new power top motor and lines and other items that needed attention. All the work I had done was performed by a reputable shop in the Northern Virginia area and I have all documents of that work.

The car runs, shifts, steers great and is a nice driver that you can take to work or on trips. Bottom line is that this is a nice reliable driver that will get attention wherever you go. It would also be a great investment for an enthusiast, since k-code convertibles are very rare and with period correct engines sell for $35,000 and up.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the vehicle. All payments must be verified before the title will be signed over.

No matter what, you will have the satisfaction of owning one very rare and desirable car.
