Transportation Network

I was wondering if it would be practicial to start a "Transportation Network" for helping one anouther to get parts, cars, and even each other from one place to anouther, I think this could work out well if a member was going near where someone needed parts or what ever to go, and we all would be alot more careful than the commercial shippers with out valuable parts.

Comments?? Ideas??

Guys, I just realized I made a typo on the last line: I should have said "OUR" parts NOT "OUT" parts---fat fingers on the keyboard.....

Interesting idea; how would it work? Barter type system that gives each action a value? Who keeps track of it - a list here at the Forum?

I am always more than willing to help someone out here on "The Island"

I live in the Okanagan Valley in BC and I have a place near Kingman Arizona, so I'm travelling back and forth a few times a year. I'd be happy to pick-up or drop-off stuff along the way. Just shoot me a couple of bucks for fuel if I have to go very far out of the way. I have an F350 and an open car hauler as well, which I just used to collect my new Kar from Boulder CO. (2700 miles in 3 1/2 days... I love it!) I'm always looking for a reason to go somewhere, so let me know what you need anytime and maybe I can help.

Great idea. I too travel (empty trailermost the times) when ever I take a long trip (about 12 )a year. All directions from the midwest I could take or pickup cars or large parts (even smaller parts) in my truck bed along with me or pick-up. GREAT idea!!!!

Maybe we could organize a dozen or so different drop off/pick-up locations thru-out the contenental USA. I'd be the first to do something aroud the east central Iowa area,SW Wisconsin area or NW Illinois area.Bob

How about, as part of this site, a category for guys needing delivery/rides, and those offering delivery/rides? Maybe a pound/mile service fee to compensate? With a minimum/pound flat rate? Or barter/negotiate? Anyone else? Might want to keep this strictly to members, tho. Trust/insurance a consideration. MTCW.

I think that it is a great idea and we will certainly take a look into it. Unfortunately, at the moment Hank is very busy at work/home and is addressing the Email problem as well. We must get that fixed first before we do anything else. The site has grown with many new members but contributions have stopped months ago. We understand that the economy is tough everywhere, but it does take money to keep the site operating. If you have already contributed, then you have done your fair share. If however, you have not and would like to see the site to continue to function, then any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your contributions. Regards, Marv.

Marv I'm new here and have immensely enjoyed reading the posts and trying to learn a bit about the car I've wanted for many years. My car is now on the quay in Chatham Kent UK awaiting customs clearance. I would be happy to make a contribution but would need to know how? where to? what amount? etc. Thanks to all the backroom boys great job

As a followup, and to be sure it works for us members, I selected the donations paypal button, filled in the amount, $100.00 and sent it. seems to work OK.
