Okay... cool. It would be nice if someday it could say "last seen in BC", but no worries. Just let us all know when it's all working again.

Thanks... I'm sute I'm not alone when I say "Thanks for all the efforts in keeping the registry and this web site operational."

    Cheers...

yeah, i've seriously considered it... If was him giving it to me to keep, it's be mine, but he just wants to put it in for a track day and then take it back out again... but I kinda like the one tire fire, it adds to the nostlga and make the launches that much more challenging...

Hey All, It's been a while since I've been on here and I thought I'd let anyone who cares know what's been happening with my Kar.

As some of you may know, I bought it out of Colorado last February and imported it into BC, Canada. Since then, I've done a thorough once over and cleaned up bunch of loose wiring, gave it a good tune-up, polished it up and put some new tires on. I was able to get the Radio, Lighter and back-up lights to work so now everything is functional. I still haven't picked up a Rally-Pak for it, but I'm happy using the Shelby dash mounted tach. It looks pretty nice sitting up there and gets lots of compliments. Also, I bought a few parts from Fred last March when I was in LA and hope to get those things installed this spring.

Having last been painted in prior to 1981, according to the receipts I have, it needs a paint job, but it cleaned up pretty well. I've had it out to the Peach City Beach Cruise in Penticton, BC, an All-Ford show n' shine up in Kelowna and another show called Kars Under the K in Keremeos, BC, which was pretty cool. There is a constant crowd around the Kar at every show, and it turns heads young and old on the street... Very Cool!

I've driven it quite a bit as well and managed to get a speeding ticket as well... On that note, (and hopefully I don't get shunned for this), I also took it to the track once where it consistently ran mid 9's in the eigth mile. Pretty quick for a 44 year old car on street radials... I'm not sure what that works out to in the 1/4, but probably high 14's. I picked some drag radials, so i'll try it out again next summer and see if I can get it to launch any better. My buddy has a 9" third member with a detroit locker and 4:11 gears that he wants me to put in, but I refuse... Since there was no factory traction aid in 65, I am inclined to keep it that way.

Anyway, that's the story so far...

Thanks for all your input. I really appreciate it.

I decided to replace with 215/60-15. The Kar is lowered a bit in the front, but they don't rub anywhere and it handles well. I might try something different later on, but for now I got a good deal on these.

Welcome Tom... I'm new here too, and I would have say it's great to have ANOTHER real Mustang Fan on board.

I've only onwned a few over the years, but I've loved them from the time I knew what a car was... and I'm sure I'm not the only one here...

Okay, so I had another look at the mounts and the left one, which where the problem is, is completely different than the right one. In fact the right one looks just like Fred described, with the square piece of rubber that is sqaushing down and actualy starting to seperate from the steel on the block side. However, there is plenty of clearance on this side. The left one has more of a trianglular shaped piece of rubber with the steel on the block side wrapping over the top, and the frame side is much larger. It is on this side where the manifold is sitting right on the steel of the frame side of the mount. I took some photos, but idon't have time to download them right now. Regardless, it looks like I'll be shopping for new mounts for both sides... Assuming I don't have the $$$ for an original set, what should I be looking for.

Thanks for the input. The speedo gear should be able to be changed to correct for different tire sizes. I'm more interested in what looks and handles the best, and what clearance issues people have encountered.

Hopefully your Kar shows up soon. The anticipation is rough, I know. I've got mine here, but I have to wait for a safety inpsection before I can register it... So close, yet still so far...

I live in the Okanagan Valley in BC and I have a place near Kingman Arizona, so I'm travelling back and forth a few times a year. I'd be happy to pick-up or drop-off stuff along the way. Just shoot me a couple of bucks for fuel if I have to go very far out of the way. I have an F350 and an open car hauler as well, which I just used to collect my new Kar from Boulder CO. (2700 miles in 3 1/2 days... I love it!) I'm always looking for a reason to go somewhere, so let me know what you need anytime and maybe I can help.

    Cheers,

    Marshall

Heart Wrenching is an understatment! My parents house burned when I was younger and while we all lived, the loss of memories and heirlooms is truely tragic in itself, let alone the lives...

God willing the weather will cooperate and it gets controled soon. Those responsible can not be punished enough as far as I'm concerned.

I'm just curious what everyone's running for tire size on their street driven Kars. Mine now has 215-60/15s and it sits pretty nice and seems to handle well, although I haven't had a chance to drive it very far yet. The guys at the tire shop said I should go lower profile, but I don't think so...

I'd like to replace, and I want some experienced opinions.

    Thanks,

    Marshall

Thanks for the input Fred... I was pretty sure the mounts are not original. I seems odd that left side would be sagging so much that the manifold is touching the frame mounted portion of the mount, yet the right side still has at least 1/2" clearance while the engine is sitting dead level in the car. I'll take a couple of photos later today and you can see what I mean. Regardless of that fact, I would like to put some original mounts back in, but I've heard they sell for $1500 plus, and since I'm not planning a concours resto, I'm wondering if there are repops available in the original style, and if so, should they be considered, or are they junk...? I'd also like to know what part numbers other people are using with success. I know most of the motor mount from that era were interchangable, (I once bolted a late 60s vintage 302 into a 58 Ford truck using the same mounts from the late 70s vintage 460 that had been there), but I'm sure there are nuances between different part numbers and some may work better than others for different applications.

Hey all.. Picked up the new fastback from Boulder last weekend. It has a few little issues, but overall it seems to be a pretty tight Kar. Hopefully somebody here can shed some light on the first issue I've come across. Upon closer inspection to find an annoying squeak when the Kar is idling, I found that the bottom of the exhaust manifold is in contact with the top of the motor mount on the left side only. I'm pretty sure it's not the original block, but is has the correct hipo manifolds (header style). The engine sits nice and level and there seems to be the correct amount of clearance between the exhaust and the clutch linkage and everything else lines up nicely. It looks like the manifold actually has a divit cast into it to clear the mount, but it's making fairly heave contact with the top end of the metal plate right in that spot. I'm guessing the mounts (or just the left mount) is incorrect. The numbers on the mounts are as follows (at least as best as I could make out under limited lighting):

    Right - C30A 6A080-B

    Left - C30A 6C041-B

I would love to hear any thoughts on both what these mounts were for and ideas on how to solve the clearance issue.
