  • Hey All, It's been a while since I've been on here and I thought I'd let anyone who cares know what's been happening with my Kar.

As some of you may know, I bought it out of Colorado last February and imported it into BC, Canada. Since then, I've done a thorough once over and cleaned up bunch of loose wiring, gave it a good tune-up, polished it up and put some new tires on. I was able to get the Radio, Lighter and back-up lights to work so now everything is functional. I still haven't picked up a Rally-Pak for it, but I'm happy using the Shelby dash mounted tach. It looks pretty nice sitting up there and gets lots of compliments. Also, I bought a few parts from Fred last March when I was in LA and hope to get those things installed this spring.

Having last been painted in prior to 1981, according to the receipts I have, it needs a paint job, but it cleaned up pretty well. I've had it out to the Peach City Beach Cruise in Penticton, BC, an All-Ford show n' shine up in Kelowna and another show called Kars Under the K in Keremeos, BC, which was pretty cool. There is a constant crowd around the Kar at every show, and it turns heads young and old on the street... Very Cool!

I've driven it quite a bit as well and managed to get a speeding ticket as well... On that note, (and hopefully I don't get shunned for this), I also took it to the track once where it consistently ran mid 9's in the eigth mile. Pretty quick for a 44 year old car on street radials... I'm not sure what that works out to in the 1/4, but probably high 14's. I picked some drag radials, so i'll try it out again next summer and see if I can get it to launch any better. My buddy has a 9" third member with a detroit locker and 4:11 gears that he wants me to put in, but I refuse... Since there was no factory traction aid in 65, I am inclined to keep it that way.

    Anyway, that's the story so far...<img src=images/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • Personally, I would take the offer of the locker.

    You won't regret it.

A locker is one of those things that makes the car neater to drive because of the banging and clanging around corners but if you get tired of it then it is an hour job to switch back.

  • yeah, i've seriously considered it... If was him giving it to me to keep, it's be mine, but he just wants to put it in for a track day and then take it back out again... but I kinda like the one tire fire, it adds to the nostlga and make the launches that much more challenging...
