The carb is not a manual choke, would it be a fairlane hi po unit or a replacement autolite . having an alternator would rule out it being a 64.5 engine assy.
Have a 1964 1/2 289 hipo engine and transmission.

You only selling engine and trans? I’m interested if your selling the drive shaft and or rear end (not engine and trans). Thx
Mike, Depending on when your Kar was produced, I may have a rear end assembly. PM or email is best.

I have cleaned up the transmission tag as best without damaging. Looks to me as 4864
-
Note" I have now figured out the HEH-T shows that it was made between Aug-20-64 to Oct-1-64

This engine block is a 6 bolt which would have been produced from some time in July 1964 onward. This should help put a time line on this engine. Possibly the last hurrah for the 1964 1/2 Kars as the 1965 Kars started showing up in August 1964.
Can you please clean the tag on the transmission and post the numbers?

Is there a recommended way to clean up tag? Don't want to damage it. Also where would the date code be on the block. Engine and Transmission came out of a 64 1/2 Fastback.
You can clean up the tag with some fine steel wool some times. Yours has enough rust that it will probably take some 600 grit sandpaper and hopefully not coarser than that. Now that you say this engine and transmission came out of a fastback, that makes it a 1965 engine with possibly a 1964 date. Fastbacks were not available until the 1965 model year. The date code is on the underside of the block above the starter. That should be next to the C5AE 6015 E casting number but much smaller.

Hello Fred, I have cleaned up as much as possible, and have posted the picture of transmission tag. I shows stamped HEH-T . Have last four digits of code. Note" I have now figured out the HEH-T shows that it was made between Aug-20-64 to Oct-1-64. This engine and transmission came out of a 65 mustang my sister bought in about 1968. I then purchased it in early 70's. The engine and transmission was removed and replaced with a stock 289 3-speed out of a Fairlane about 1974 ish. Now to figure a price on the pair?

Please look closer as that number will have 6 digits and not 4.

The August 20, 1964 start date is correct but Ford made an error when they stated the ending date of October 1, 1964. On the older version of this forum, we found multiple Kars produced as late as May of 1965 with an HEH-T transmission with the Kars' VIN stamped on it.

Note that the engine motor mount shown is a 1966 and later style mount , also has a standard 289 alternator pulley. trans and engine vin stamps would helpfull.

Yes the motor mounts where from a 66 Fairlane. My brother had one time started putting engine into a dune buggy.

Do you still have the original Mustang mounts?

No. They where used for 289 we put in the mustang back in early 70's. I do have picture of stamped numbers on block.
K653323 will post shortly.

The block was cast on January 20, 1965, I think making it a '66 model year. Fred will know for sure! Wouldn't be original to a 64-1/2 kar...

Most likely a march or april 65 car, an assy block assy date stamping would help pinpoint it.

Actually, the January 20, 1965 casting date makes it solidly a 1965 model year. Possibly you made a typing error on the year?
