Hemmings Motor News Article

  • In the February 2008 HMN issue there is an article "Confessions of A Restorer" by Dave Wallace that describes his purchase and restoration journey with his 65 K-code FB.

  • Dave Wallace is a member of this forum. Congratulations on your article, Dave.

  • I wrote that letter to HMN as a way of thanking my wife for getting me back into cars. Yesterday afternoon, New Years Eve, I came home and opened the mail box to find a self addressed stamped envelope. A couple of years ago I sent it to one of the previous owners I had tracked down in an effort to get him to help me fill in the history of my car. I had hit a dead end in the provenance at 1991. For the past three years I kept calling his voice mail, sending letters, and emailing information about the car as I restored it in hopes that he would contribute his history with the car. In a last ditch effort I sent him information about the K Day show and a copy of the HMN article figuring that if that didn't break the ice nothing would. It must have helped, because the enevelope he sent me contained the entire ownership history of the car from day one. <img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • I've seen Dave's car from almost every angle. It is a GREAT representation of a HiPo, not to forget it is also a fastback. "Dave, Congratulations on owning a piece of the Mustang history".

  • I ran into the same problem with my 64.5 K race car.Every time I turned somewhere to try and gather info a wall was there.Being persistent finally paid off for me sometime later also as I finally confirmed alot of the stories, got photo's and record certificates to boot!

  • My Hemmings just showed up this afternoon. I love Hemmings anyway and this just makes it all the more enticing. (BTW - I gave up trying to contact the long-time first owner of my K.)
