If I remember right, it wasn't a requirement for automatic cars.
Looks like a decent car. Although, whenever I see a fuzzy-back trunk mat, makes me wonder if there were other shortcuts made. To their credit, looks like a lot of time was spent in the engine bay. Some areas could be better without much effort, like in the interior (wrinkles in seats, faded dash bezel...)

Based on the following quote from the auction, the engine is possibly not a Hipo and at the very least, not the original based on the date code of the casting:

This guy is a e-bay flipper, he offers to end auctions early under one e-bay handle, then does a cosmetic detail to engine & interior & relists them under a different e-bay handle. I would be very suspect of anything he sells. Definately need a hands on inspection before purchasing.
Also, some type of work has been poorly done on passenger rear fender apron on top, probably rust replacement?
