E-Bay Listing: 65 K Conv. shell/project

quote:
Vehicle Description

Up for bid a very rare 1964 1/2 Mustang K car Convertible. It is one of the first muscle car mustang Ford ever made. There were only a handfull of them made. Orginally it came with a 289 cubic inch 271 horse power with a factory 4 speed and a 9 inch Ford rear end. This is a project car that has been in storage for about 25 years or so. It has been stored in a barn. The car is missing the original motor and transmission, and lots of other parts. I do have the hypo heads, air cleaner. The car has two new quarter panels and two new inner wheel panels. The driver side panel is just tacked on in place. It has a new fender on the passenger side and front splash pan. Under the hood and trunk is rust free. It does have a small amount of rust on the front floor board by the torque boxes. The car does not have original doors. Passenger door is okay but driver door will need a skin on it. We have no interior or convertible top. What you see in the picture is all we have with the car and is all selling with car. The car does have the orginal exhaust and drive shaft is still attached to factory 9 inch rear end. I was told the K cars has a special ratio steering box, these are the numbers off the steering box, HCC AX1 4F10B. The car is being sold as is, it has no title just a bill of sale. Don't let this one get away Mustang lovers. We must have $1000 down by means of cashier check within 3 days of end of auction and balance apon pickup. Buyer must pick up car and parts. Please email with any questions. Thanks for looking.

Just my opinion - best part of these pictures is what appears to be a Thunderbolt...

That was my thoughts as well...

Car looks to be pretty solid for a vert. Might make a good project for someone.

  • Would be a fairly difficult restoration project for most people. There are a lot of parts missing which would be unique to the time this car was built. Hopefully someone willing to invest the time to do it right will get it.

It only appears to be a Thunderbolt. The real ones were all sedans with fully framed door glass and a post on the quarter window...

    Correct - still looks nice.

  • auction was ended, lasted longer than i thought it would. i spoke with the seller who said it was for sale locally for $6500. definitely worthy of a restoration but i doubt it'll be done true to a 64 1/2 as many of the parts unique to them are not made reproduction and originals have to be hunted down. i wanted this car but thanks to the real estate market being in the toilet in MI and having 2 house payments now the purchase wasnt agreeable to my wife. i know she's right, the timing wasnt good, but still...i wanted it

Quite right, Noel. I've always preferred the '64 Fairlane coupes vs the 2 door sedans, T-Bolt or otherwise. Most agree that the original Thunderbolts were made from stripped Fairlane sedans to provide slightly more unibody strength, along with lower initial cost.

  • just keeping this post alive wondering if anyone knows anything about this convert ? if a forum member bought it ?

also a request for forum members to keep their eyes open for Kars for sale and to post them in the forum for those of us who are STILL hoping to join the k code ownership.

    thanks guys-
