Heater Hose Strap

  • Looks correct, but could have been "manufactured" yesterday.

Many people make their own since this part isn't repoped, but is easy to copy and make.

Without a FoMoCo bag, box, or part number label I wouldn't pay much for it - no way he can prove it is NOS FORD.

  • I don't know - I seem to remember the strap on my 66 six cylinder was more like a fabric webbing material, sort of like a lifting strap. But it was approx. the same dimensions as the ebay part.

And they have 20 pieces for sale. I'd imagine one tire would yield about 20 straps if you cut it up.

  • FYI - My car still had the original in place back in the day (1979), but it was totally useless as it was in 2 pieces.

It defintely was made from tire side wall as it had a nice section of white wall in the middle and this is where it broke into 2 pieces.

It was bolted to the firewall/shock tower brace with the common sheet metal screw Ford used.

Do these straps on Ebay look real NOS?

Not sure but I believe the one on my car to be original.

  • 65K09 both of your photos show the heater strap connected to the brace in two places (ie. needing two screws). That appears to be correct for the standard factory brace.

What about the export brace? I thought I'd read previously that the export brace was attached in one place only (ie. the strap loops back to itself and attaches with one screw). Is that correct?

  • Motor-Racer, I believe you are correct as there

is only one hole in the export brace.

However, I have never seen any car with an export

brace actually have the strap, neither 65/66 Shelby

    nor export cars in Sweden.

  • My C code Sept 28 Dearborn is a 2 holer on the pass side just like 65K09's picture. Original screws and just a tid bit of tire left. I have a wonderful tire that did not hold air with a hoot, gonna get my revenge on it. And I will sell straps buy it now for 1/2 his price <img src=images/icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

    How long is that strap?

I also have 1 hole on the other side but that is for that metal A/C strap.
