Radio by YOM question

  • After restoring my standard AM radio to operation, I read somewhere that the dial of the radio changed a bit from '65 to '66. I have a '65 Kar with a radio dial that begins with a "5" digit. The label on the bottom is too worn to read, and I see no stamped date codes.

Has this topic been covered in a thread before? If you know of one, please send me a link. I couldn't find one when I performed a site search.

    Thanks in advance!

  • I have a few AM radios and all of them are stamped with numbers on the left side. These stamps are in the metal and do not wear off like the paper tag numbers on the bottom of the radio. A 65 radio is stamped 5TMZ and the stations begin with a 6 on the dial. The 66 radio is stamped 6TPZ and the stations begin with a 5 on the dial.

  • Great information. I'll go recheck for date codes on the side - must've been covering it with my hand. And that chart is very handy.

Thanks a bunch for the help!
