I have a 4V intake with an engine tag on it. The numbers are:
289 65 1
4-G 550-C
Is 550-C a 4V manual transmission engine code?

Looks like a D code with 4sp.
Is the 550-C published anywhere? I know of a 550-B and a 550-J engine code but 550-C seems like an odd-ball code to me.
But I think you are right. By the date code, it has to be a D code 4V.
I haven't dug far enough to find documented proof. It was just a guess based on the other "550" numbers during that time period and a correlation of the Level 1 version of the 289.
Very sharp eye Darrell as this reference must have been tough to find.

It was the ONLY thing I found. Is this the RPM Bob Mannel from this site. If so, Kudos to Bob. Great Information!
You guys on this site are Top-Notch!
Thanks,
Darrell
RPM is another person on this site. Bob Mannel is on this site as bobmannel.

Road draft tubes were still used in 1964 so this may be that type of engine.
