• Well, hope this question is not to stupid, but here goes.

I was offered a 289 cheap. While looking over the engine (aftermarket intake and value covers) I noted the following casting numbers on the block:

    D10E 8015-AA

    2B10

I am thinking that it is a 1972 302 block but wanted to get some input. Any comments appreciated.

    Thanks

Are you sure about that casting number? All the Ford block numbers I've seen are "6015" not "8015". Otherwise, I'd say it's probably a 302, as you already figured.

  • You are probably right. The engine was sitting in the back of a van that is slowly rusting into the ground. Between the rust, lighting and angle it is very probable that the digit was a six not an eight.

    Thanks
