I looked at the steering box tag and it has 4F02B on it.Fenders have 8 11 D3 and other 8 24 C.Behind fender lip on body/firewall is 7 38 2D so what does all this mean or decode to?
Decode Numbers Question

Those are date codes. There are different formats used throughout the parts on the car.
4F02B is June 2, 1964, B shift
8 11 D3 is August 11, 3rd shift at Dearborn plant
8 24 C is August 24, Cleveland plant (not uncommon for shift code to be missing)
Note: Sheetmetal is not year-stamped, just month and day.
Also, keep in mind that Ford service replacement sheetmetal uses a different stamp, like 'A 65', or if the plant is 'W' for Woodhaven, you know it's replacement sheetmetal. This is an area overlooked on a lot of restored mustangs. If you want a true numbers matching car, the sheet metal dates on the car should fit with when the car was built.

I know it's a Dearborn car by the code F07 but what is a Cleveland fender doing on this original car?Is this common or replacement in your opinion?
-
You're confusing assembly plant with stamping plant. The sheet metal parts were made at stamping plants and then sent to the assembly plant.
The '07' in your VIN doesn't tell you the factory where it was made, '07' is just the code for a 2 door coupe. The second character is for the plant. F is Dearborn, R is San Jose and T is Metuchen.

Thanks for the info as I appreciate it.This car has no door tag so how can I get the info to redo a correct door tag?
-
ahhhh....There's the rub.... Have you looked in all the places that might have a build sheet? Failing that, and without other info from previous owners, there are places on the car that might reveal the original paint color, but little else. Good luck.

We might be able to fill in most of the blanks if you have original interior, trans, rear, etc in the car and can provide us info, build date is the hardest, a VIN # compared to others can get you close.

District Sales Office (DSO) is the hardest in the creation of a Warranty Tag.

Car was originally a dealer owned drag car.It was delete inside of sound deadner, insulation, under coating, radio and heater.Originally the owner was in Brook Park,Ohio.Car is standard black interior,rear-end original and had automatic transmission.Rear-end was ordered with 4.11 Detroit Locker and VIN is 5F07K2521??.Is this close enough to get the info to have tag made?Everything else appears to be original like the sheet metal as car was never wrecked and only raced so it's very low mileaged!

This sounds like a unique car. The fact that it has an automatic transmission contradicts what was offered on K code Mustangs in 1965. It's possible the original transmission was swapped out for racing purposes. Being a former "dealer owned drag car" complicates things even more. If all of this is true, the DSO code would be a special 6 digit number that is very difficult to research. There are some factory race Mustangs that have been documented in the Smart and Haskell Mustang Registry, and it's possible your car may be listed there.

I'm trying to find out all I can about the car and am trying to get info on maybe the door tag as I was told this was a factory built race car because it has all these deletes.Wonder does anybody else have a sealer, deadner or under coated delete car? From what I've been told this would have been an ordered car so the DSO is going to be tough with out that original tag.Sure hope I can find it as they said it would be quite unique!Appreciate the input

Looked under the dash, carpet and seats and looks like no build sheet.Checked some more body panels and dates look correct. Now if I can just run down that tag?

Do you have Smarts book to see if my K is in that book?I've looked online and didn't see a web site listed.
