1966 hipo engine

Yes, it started off life as a 66 Hipo engine. It now has 12.5 to 1 compression with modified heads. It will not run on pump gas without severely retarding the timing. That of course would defeat the purpose of the compression for making horsepower. It has a C8ZE balancer and no flywheel. The lack of a flywheel will make it probable that the engine would need to be disassembled so that a flywheel could be balanced to match the rest of the assembly. I asked the man about the flywheel and he does not have it. He indicates that this is purely a race engine for the likes of a GT40 or GT350. It is also "old school" race technology so it is not really current. It is not an appropriate street engine for a Hipo Kar. It makes a great conversation piece with the period correct 2 X 4 intake manifold although Webers are more cool.

I bought the flywheel & clutch assembly from that engine, (and the top loader he had) from the same seller a while back. I got the people at SAAC talking to the guy to see if they could steer him to the current owner of the GT-350 the engine once came from. Seems like they would be the ones to really want the engine the most. Since it's on ebay now, I guess nothing came of those talks.

If it sells and I'm surprised about the price,WOW you should contact the buyer and see if he wants to buy the flywheel as you'll save him some trouble!

I wouldn't be surprized to see it reach $ 5000 or more. Depends on what the bidders are looking for. If the original GT-350 is still around, having that engine (returned to stock specs) could increase the value of their car by $ 10,000 +/-. Anybody else is taking more of a gamble. Who knows what condition the heads or crank are in, or what the bore is, could be maxed out, and need to be resleeved.

Auction ended at $10,200 - reserve not met. I wonder what the reserve was?

crazy money, IMHO. Not worth that unless you were putting it back in the original car.
