66 K GT A-Sedan

  • Couple of Photos of my 66 K GT Notchback Road Race Car. This Car was modified in 1967 to do club races - raced A-Sedan in SCCA Regional and National out of the Chicago Region in 68 ,69. Converted back to Street and put in storage in 1971. Found in 1998 and finally restored to original race configuration in 2006. Has since raced with VDCA, HSR , and SVRA - Historic Medallion #6-400. Still has all VIN Stamps and original Door Tag.

Thought some of you guys might like to see a different way to enjoy a K Car. It`s a real sleeper on the track and a Hoot to drive! [Blocked Image: http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t93/mtrhed/mitty2007r1.jpg]

  • This one is for sure a keeper !

The wheels are American Torque Thrust D - standard 15 x 7 in the photos with 6.00 Goodyears all around . I also have a 15 X 8.5 with 7.00`s setup for the rear.

  • Oh-Yeah 66KGT, You know I like your Coupe . It`s the right Color for sure and GT too ! Only difference - mine had a Black Vinyl Top originally.

  • Couper, I'm showing my ignorance, but what do you mean by the number " 6.00" and " 7.00" after the 15X7 and 15 X 8.5 ? is that an offset? the exact offset is important. Beagle1 has some for sale and I am interested, so you might help me here.

Duncan - Most of the Period Authentic Vintage Road Race Organizations require you to run a Vintage Bias ply race tire with DOT approval. The 6.00/15 is an old tire size standard that equates to approx 225-60-15 . The 7.00/15 is approx 2.55-60-15. these are typically Goodyear Blue streaks or Hoosier STD`s. They get real sticky when hot and have pretty impressive grip. Not good in the rain or as a street tire though.

As far as wheels go - the American Torque Thrust D seems to be the wheel of choice for the road race Vintage Mustangs.

The backspace on both the 7" and 8.5" width wheel is 3.75" so it`s a tight fit without a little fender massaging.
