Is BLACK a good color for resale?

  • I'm considering purchasing a black '66 fastback with black interior. I think it's a sharp color on a fastback, but I'm not in love with black for a 'vert. I would want to sell this car in a few years down the road, and was curious what you all think of the color for a fastback.

If not black, what do you think IS the most desireable color for an early fastback.

  • My first Mustang, a 66 Fastback "A" code, was Signalflare Red with a Black interior. My first 'K" code, a 64 Fairlane Sports Coupe, was Black with a Red interior. My 69 Mustang Sportsroof was also Black with a Red interior. A Black on Black "K" has a certain aura of mystery. Keep it.

  • Black is nice when done right but I would suggest you paint the car the original color as most any guy who buys one of these cars will be anal for the original color and repainting a car right is alot of work to redo!

  • Black would, at least in my humble opinion, be a very close second choice to "resale" red. Nicely done black cars just have their own special look. My first exposure to a K code was a very fast ride in a black on black 66 fastback back when I was a freshman in high school and I never forgot that ride or that car, it was what fueled my desire to someday own a K. I was 14 then and it only took me around 28 more years to finally get my own K. Sad ending to that black K by the way,as it ended up meeting a telephone pole at high speed a few years later.

  • Interesting topic

I have never really gone out of my way to specify a colour for cars that I own apart from one case when I chose red for a bare body re paint. How ever I find myself in the curious position of owning four cars in re sale red. This must mean I am in for a s**t load of money later on <img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
