This is good stuff. The choke cable on my hipo was mounted on the left when I got the car in '98. I misinterpreted a thread on the forum a few years ago and relocated it under the ignition switch. I always wondered what the clip on the export brace was for. Now I have another project.....to relocate the choke back to the left side. Thanks guys!

I have the fuel pumps back from the rebuilder in their disassembled condition. The tin parts are ready to go to the plater on Monday and the castings are in the cleaning process right now. As soon as the plating is done I will be taking the pieces back to the rebuider for reassembly. I will then need to make another trip back to the rebuilder to pick up the assembled pumps. I then bring them back to my place to reattach the arms, box them and ship them.

    Fred,

I got my hi-po pump back yestereday. It looks so good, I may have to mount it on the mantle above my fireplace instead of back on the car. Thanks!!

My Hi-Po has a set of original "FoMoCo" floormats (front and back) that don't have any horse figure on them. They have the ribs and are shaped just like the repops. Has anyone ever seen a set of these?

Thanks Charles. Now I've just got to figure out how to repaint the dash without getting overspray everywhere.....arghhhh.

What started out as a simple shifter replacement is now snowballed into a Major P.I.A. <img src=images/icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

What is the correct color for the dash and steering column for a '65 black interior. On my car it is painted "Charcoal Black", however, I don't know if it's been re-painted or not in the past. The doors are untouched and are just semi-gloss black. I have found conflicting info on whether the "Charcoal Black" was used in '65. My hi-po is an Oct. 64, San Jose car if that matters.

    Thanks,

My buddy Charlie and I stopped and looked at the 9" housings. I must say that they looked very good. I couldn't tell that it wasn't an original. In this day we usually have no choice other than to put up with sub-par repro parts or pay ridiculous prices for NOS or usable original parts. If I was in need of a 9" Mustang housing and couldn't find a suitable original, I'd get one of these.

I rebuilt my original valve and it leaked a few months later. I then sent it to White Post Restorations. They sleeved it and put it together backwards such that it locked up the brakes the first time I backed out of the garage. I sent it back to them and they re-assembled it, but six months later it leaked again. A total waste of $200. I pulled it out and installed a dual chamber MC, adjustable rod and Willwood valve from Cobra Automotive. Eight years later and I couldn't be happier.

I plan to bring "goldie" to her first meet under my banner. SteveP has been very generous helping me to figure out how to make it happen. Are there ANY other K codes going, or will I be the Lone Ranger?? I hope there will be others as our special K group needs some exposure, don't you think? My buddy Charlie (a.k.a. 65Rangoon) and I will be coming in from Texas. We went to the 40th in Nashville and had such a good time we decided we'd have to make this one also. There's nothing like taking a 45 year old hotrod out for a 2000 mile drive.

I'm running Goodyear Eagle's on my K. 205/60-15 up front and 225/60-15's in the rear on Torque Thrust D's. The front is lowered with 1" 600# springs. The fenders aren't rolled, nothing rubs and the speedo is correct.

I had mine Jet-Hot coated in 2004 after an unsuccessful attempt to paint them with high temp paint. I couldn't be happier. I think they look better today than when I first put them back on. The turnaround time was excellent as well. I had them back two weeks after sending them out.

I remember seeing this K at Nashville. It's a beauty. Not worth 125 grand, though. The collector car market will continues to slide. The housing market is tanking. The overall economy is in a downward spiral. Gas will soon be $5 a gallon. It's safe to say the good times are over, at least for a while.
