value of hipo block w main caps

What is the approximate value of a 65 hipo block with all main caps 7 nothing else?

It would depend a lot on whether it is standard bore size and general overall condition. Are you trying to buy or sell?

If you are trying to buy or sell, if the block is useable in its present condition, .030 over needing a rebuild, I'd say $1800-2000. The hipo main caps must go to this block. a premium for a stamped block. Sorry, just trying to educate myself. Aren't all 289 blocks the same? So would you be paying 1800-2000 for main caps?

I posted my question to get a rough idea of what a bare block with the main caps was worth because I was going to look at one that I had heard about. I don't know if the VIN is stamped on it or not.

I admit I have very little specific knowledge about K's. Could someone please tell me how to determine that the main caps go with that particular block?

TRUE.... it is just a set of main caps..... but if they are matched to the block...you don't have to cut metal to match them to any other block....so a matched set with the block is worth more that the caps by themselves...<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
