value of hipo block w main caps

• It would depend a lot on whether it is standard bore size and general overall condition. Are you trying to buy or sell?

65 Koupe early San Jose Phoenician Yellow 4 speed
66 GT Koupe Dearborn Blue 4 speed
66 KGT San Jose fastback pony interior Silver Frost 4 speed
64 Falcon sedan delivery 289 4 speed
65 Ranchero 289 4 speed
66 Corvette roadster 427/425 4 speed

• If you are trying to buy or sell, if the block is useable in its present condition, .030 over needing a rebuild, I'd say $1800-2000. The hipo main caps must go to this block. a premium for a stamped block. Do you have one to sell?

• Sorry, just trying to educate myself. Aren't all 289 blocks the same? So would you be paying 1800-2000 for main caps?

• I posted my question to get a rough idea of what a bare block with the main caps was worth because I was going to look at one that I had heard about. I don't know if the VIN is stamped on it or not.

I admit I have very little specific knowledge about K's. Could someone please tell me how to determine that the main caps go with that particular block?

Thanks,

• TRUE.... it is just a set of main caps..... but if they are matched to the block...you don't have to cut metal to match them to any other block....so a matched set with the block is worth more that the caps by themselves...
