I used Krylon semi-flat. I liked that look but it may not be what is correct. semi- flat is just below satin but above flat. satin is below semi-gloss, I thought that was too shiny.
Krylon Rust Tough Semi Flat enamel. That's what I used and it worked great!

That is a great looking engine bay, nice job.
that is a well detailed eng comp you did this with krylon spray can what about the bolts looks like they are stainless steel I talked to a guy today he used black enamel gloss paint from tractor supply said it is very durable
Yep, Krylon rattle can. Almost impossible to screw up with the new can and nozzel system. The key is the prep (I'm sure you've heard that before) I left the engine in and cleaned everything several times, lots of grinding and sanding, but not to bare metal except where I had to remove factory runs/drips - feathered it out and wet sanded. The painting part was easy and only took a few minutes.
Yep, I used SS bolts under the hood b/c I like how they look and are easy to maintain. I know they aren't "correct", but it was what I wanted and I don't regret it.

Consider Rust-oleum's Satin Black product #7777.
It's not lacquer based, does require a longer drying period, but does not seem as brittle i.e. more chip resistant than others.
