How rare is my K kode?

  • Any idea on the production numbers for certain color/body style/engine combinations?

Specifically, I'm wondering how many 65 fastbacks had the Prairie Bronze/Palomino combo.

Thanks, this is a great site.

  • For 64.5, 65 and 66 I do not believe so.

However I know of two..now three. Mine a C code the other a K code. Make that the other two a k code. I have noticed a few hard tops and 1 rag top on ebay lately.

  • No Ford Motor Company assembly line or production records exist for 64 thru 66 Mustangs so your question cannot be truthfully answered. The best you can hope for is data accumulated in the Mustang Production Guide that show about 4 pct of total production of 1965 Mustangs were painted Praire Bronze. Palimino vinyl was the most common interior trim at 47 pct, black at 28 pct and 11 pct were Palimino vinyl.

Jim, I am confused with the two different percentages for palomino vinyl interiors.

    -Fred-

65 Koupe early San Jose Phoenician Yellow 4 speed
66 GT Koupe Dearborn Blue 4 speed
66 KGT San Jose fastback pony interior Silver Frost 4 speed
    64 Falcon sedan delivery 289 4 speed
    65 Ranchero 289 4 speed
    66 Corvette roadster 427/425 4 speed

  • I am sure there is an odd ball out there but according to my guide in 65 here was the interior with a P Prairie Bronze paint code.

    26 Black std.

29 Palamino (mine and the other car I know of)

    D6 White with black std

    D9 White with palamino

    66 Black Delux

    69 Palamino Delux

    F6 White with black Delux

    F9 White with palamino

I am guessing that the two Palamino were the white/palamino vs palamino with white/palamino being rarer.

  • :D

This site is the greatest, and it's because of the good information from folks like you. This car has a sentimental value for my brother and I and we're looking forward to bringing it back to life.

We have fond memories of my Dad waxing off chicken hood firebirds in the 70's.

  • The second Palomino interior referenced on Praire Bronze painted cars was for the 'Pony' interior, 11 pct.

    To much CRW.
