• I’m looking for a Hipo fuel pump correct for a June 1965 application.

Being as I am the only person in the world who rebuilds these pumps, please try getting in touch with me.

  • I will double check this when I return to the shop. The last Hipo fuel pump run prior to some time in May 1965 was March 11, 1965. I just need to verify the day in May. Any 3939-S pumps produced after that were later replacements. I have seen them as late as some time in 1972.

  • The 3974-S pump was Carters first foray into crimp together pumps without a fuel filter. It was for a 1965 full size Ford with a 289. This one has short towers on it and were known for noise so Carter lemghtened the towers after that. It was replaced with the normal 4193-S pump. One just sold in the last two days on Ebay. It was much nicer than what you are showing us here.

  • What is a 3734S pump, Fred? I have one that is a 5B. It has the X on it.

The 3734-S pump is basically for the 64 1/2 260 and 289 Mustangs. It was also used on the 64 1/2 Hipo 289. The crimp type pump replaced the 3734-S in late July 1964. The earlier versions of the screw together pump did NOT have the X on them. The X came along in about 1963 and all that it denoted was a quieter running pump as the earlier ones without the X could be noisy. The X has nothing to do with any pump being a Hipo pump as all applications of pumps got the X.

Your 5B date code of February 1965 indicates that it is a service part as Ford did not factory install that type of pump after July 1964.

  • Fred, I came across a 3939S pump button top, without the fuel filter provision, and it says “made in Canada” Would you be able/interested in rebuilding it for me? Paul

I just sent you an email.
