65 Mustang fastback Dark Ivy Green with Palamino pony interior is for sale on BAT:

This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was refurbished before the seller’s 2003 acquisition and is powered by a K-code 289ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in Ivy Green over Palomino vinyl, and factory equipment reportedly included the GT Equipment group, the Special Handling package, the Accent group, the Pony package, 14″ styled steel wheels, front disc brakes, chrome bumpers, front bucket seats, an AM radio, and a cabin heater. This Mustang is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Ivy Green, and features include fog lights, GT badging, chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear fascia. Water leaks into the trunk when the car is washed, and close-up photos of finish imperfections can be found in the gallery.

The 14″ styled steel wheels are mounted with 215/60 Firestone Firehawks Indy 500 tires, and the matching spare is mounted with a Firestone Deluxe Champion redline tire. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The car was factory-equipped with the Special Handling package, which added a larger stabilizer bar, larger shock absorbers, and stiffer springs. The seller notes that the tires are approximately 20 years old and that there is a vibration at higher speeds.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Palomino vinyl along with pony backrest embroidery. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard and center console, and amenities include an AM radio and a cabin heater.

Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature. An 8k-rpm tachometer and an analog clock are mounted to the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer reads 5 mph fast. The seller notes that the clock is functional but has been disconnected and its seconds hand has been repaired.

The 289ci K-code V8 drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the engine is equipped with a five-bolt bellhousing and claims that the transmission was sourced from a 1965 Mustang K-Code coupe.

A replacement driveshaft and Spicer universal joints have been installed, and undercoating has been applied to the underside and rear fender wells.

The warranty number is consistent with a 1965 Mustang fastback that was built in Dearborn, Michigan, and equipped with a K-code 289ci V8. Decoding the trim tag reveals the following information:

    • Body 63B – Fastback with luxury interior
    • Color R – Ivy Green paint
    • Trim 69 – Palomino vinyl
    • Date – June 17th build
    • DSO 45 – Davenport district sales office
    • Axle 8 – 3.89:1 conventional rear axle ratio
    • Transmission 5 – Four-speed manual

  • Nice looking car. interesting that it has a 5 bolt bell housing and trans from another K code but has a C8ZE replacement balancer and no block vin stamping shown in the pictures .it would be worth an inspection before purchase.

I concur with Chuck on the inspection however they better hurry as the auction is down to less than 30 minutes. :)
