These are not date code matching but have the same number 20 casting by the valve cover seat area. They were recently rebuilt by a top-level machinist with new guides, valves, springs, retainers, keepers and ARP rocker studs. One head is dated 4G21 (July 4, 1964) and the other is 5C3 (March 3rd, 1965). They Both have C5OE, 65 289 casted into them. Both cylinder heads have been CC'ed and almost identical in volume. I did not install the soft plugs in case you want to use your own but will install what I have in stock if the buyer choses. Would be perfect for a concours or street restoration on your 64-66 Mustang, Shelby, Commet, Fairlane, Cobra, Tiger or Falcon. Here we have a pair of good used Ford 289 High-performance heads recently brought to us from one of our recent buyouts. The 289 Hipo motor was the best Ford had to offer in the earlier model Shelby Mustangs and Fairlane's. The Shelby GT 350 and all K model Mustangs as well as Hipo Fairlane's all used these 271 HP motors. A stronger design these are a Cobra must and we have quite a bit more so let us know your needs.
All the Hipo characteristics are present as seen in the photos. You can clearly see the recessed valve saddles and of course factory screw in studs. These 289 castings have a 19 on one head and a 21 on the top corner and a pronounced 4V on both the top and bottom sides. Pictures clearly show casting number C5OE and date codes are 5K6 and 5K2 for those that are in need of this info. These heads are nice with clean castings which is uncommon in these high revving motors.
We see no signs of cracks, welds but these heads have been planned on the gasket side to assure a clean flat surface. These heads were both on a running 289 motor that had special rods main cap girdles had little use and has been in storage for many years. If interested watch the bottom half will be offered soon or just ask we can put up a auction just for you!!

Rebuilt Ford 289 HiPo engine heads, ready to install on your engine. Date codes are 5K4 (Oct) 21 and 5L4 (Nov) 19. They have been magnafluxed, pressure tested and peened prior to rebuilding and everything checked out by a reputable engine builder here in Vancouver. The heads have been resurfaced .007”. Valve grind.Intake valves are Elgin HPV-34 1.94 and the exhaust valves are Elgin HPV-35 1.50. Hardened exhaust seats have been installed. One repair has been made with a helicoil inserted in one on the valve cover holes, Shown in picture.The heads will ship in two separate well packed boxes.
