The first converts didn't have them. I remember reading somewhere that Ford had a TSB for "Cowl Shake" and adding these braces fixed it.
I need to check some really old photos I have - I have seen this car's TWIN at the Tulsa, OK National Show in the late 80's.
Prior discussion on this car. VIN was a typo in prior thread, reversing the "1" and the "0."
The braces were added in late Fall '64.

As we watch this car get bid up, it should answer the questions about the unrestored Red K convertible that just ended 2 unsuccessful listings.
Without the GT package, these K converts do not do a whole lot. This one will probably top out under 40K, and not sell.
Rob was right - $40,200 reserve not met.
