• <b>DESCRIPTION:</b>

You are bidding on a rare 1966 Mustang K-code HI-PO Fastback, The Mustang has been in Arizona since 1970. Has been parked since 1978 when the motor was taken out for rebuild. The car is all original sheet metal with some light rust in the lower rear quarters and in the trunk. The passenger floor pan would need to be replaced and the battery tray inner apron is rusted. The rest of the car is solid. The K-code is painted to look like a Shelby it was painted in the 70s the original color should be dark blue. The original 9" rear is in the car, It also has a Top loader 4-speed trans in it. The k-code motor is out of the car and needs to be rebuilt, However it does turn over easy by hand. I belive it is still standard bore. The casting number on the block is C5AE-6015E with a build date of 6B16 that would be correct for the car, However I do not think this is the original motor for this Mustang. There are no vin #s on the side of the block it was never stamped from the factory. It might be a replacement warentee block. The Heads and intake and carb are correct. It also comes with the correct K-code exhaust manafolds. All the glass in the car is original and in good shape. The seats and center console are out of a 1970 mach 1 mustang and are not right for this car. This car needs a total restoration but with done K-codes fetching in the high 70s to the 80 thousands it is worth doing. I am selling this car to the highest bidder with no reserve. It is also listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. I have stated the condition of the car to the best of my ability if you have any questions you can call me at 520-400-6180 or e-mail through e-bay Thank's and good luck bidding.

  • Gotta like those early Fairlane HiPo exhaust manifolds...Apparently, the seller wants to sell this project car for $25,000.00. Considering what is seen in the pictures, does anyone think this is a good deal? <img src=images/icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • The passenger side exhaust manifold is a 63-64 Hipo Fairlane piece.

Exactly right, Fred. Too bad it won't be likely to go to someone who could use it for a K code Fairlane restoration.

  • He seems to be basing his price on his own idea that "done K codes are fetching in the high 70's to 80 thousands". I seem to have missed seeing any of these going for that kind of money as yet.

  • The two groove water pump pulley is a cast iron piece and looks like one for a 63 260 or 289 with A/C. The lower one has three grooves but it is hard to tell if it is cast iron or not. Keep in mind that a stamped steel three groove C5AE or C5OE pulley will not fit into a C5OE balancer. It will only fit if the balancer is machined out slightly internally to accomodate the pulley. The C8ZE replacement balancer however will work with a three groove pulley. It is really hard to tell from the picture but the balancer may well be a C8ZE one.

  • That whole engine looks kinda wierd. Check out the breather/filler cap at the <i>rear</i> of the blue left side valve cover. The alternator has a standard size pulley. The water pump appears to be aluminum. The carburetor looks as though there is an automatic choke and a dashpot on it. Any bets the internals are a mis match of who knows what?

  • The seller states in the auction description that the seats and console are out of a 70 Mach 1. You are correct that it must be out of a 69 though as it has a provision for seat belts in the console and 70 does not.
