Notice they blow up a 66 Hertz Shelby? Probably (just?) a fastback but still....
It's not just the money they spend but to blow up rare cars?

Yeah, I've seen it. Makes me cringe everytime....
Don't know how true it is but I heard somewhere that was a real Shelby...
If you go to the Shelby forum, the person who supply's the cars for the movies is a Shelby owner,he suppled the Shelby to Tom cruise in the War of the Worlds, tells about the car that is blown up a being a junk yard find fixed up to make its last call.

After watching the movie, it looks like it was a controlled explosion. It didn't appear to completely blow up the car. I sure hope not at least.
I think the group you are talking about is "Movie Cars East" based in New York - they do a ton of movie cars and even smashed up a couple of REAL new "RED" GT500's recently for a movie - sorry don't remember which one.
The owner has a ton of rare cars including a '66 Hertz GT350.
His company was featured on Rides or one of the other dozen "car" shows flooding the cable channels - don't get me wrong I LOVE these shows, but gets me in big trouble with the wife when I spend all my time in the garage or in front of the Tivo.
