Thanks for the nice words, Fred. Ever since the site switched servers, the ability for me to permanently save the pictures here by uploading the auction pictures directly onto the site has been lost. It means that any photos on this site currently linked to an eBay auction will turn into "X Boxes" when eBay deletes the auction. This usually happens a few months after the auction ends, and it will make the site look "broken" for those who want to access these pictures in the future.

In order to get around this problem, I opened an account with a so-called "free hosting" site to maintain any new pictures for the site, but quickly discovered that there is a limit to how many files (pictures) they would host at no charge. Even though there were "mega-mega" bytes of "free" bandwidth remaining, the account is limited to only 30 or less "free" pictures, no matter how small the photo files are. After that number of pictures is accumulated, there is a monthly fee that must be automatically paid through a credit card account, or no more pictures can be uploaded for hosting. Needless to say, I have hundreds of photos of HiPo Mustangs and parts on my computer, and haven't any way to host them for use on this site that won't cost $$$ month after month...

Nevertheless, I decided to start posting certain auctions (and pictures) for now, but dread the fact that the pictures will disappear in short order.

  • Gene, I might be able to help if no one else can. I maintain a website for my "Mustang & Ford Small Block V8" book at http://www.fordsmallblock.com. I can create a folder for your use. If you email me the picture as an attachment, I can upload the pictures to that directory. Then you can link from that directory. My space is not limitless, but I have a lot of room. Email me directly at bobmannel@charter.net if you would like to give this a try to see if it would work well. Biggest issue I see is probably a copyright issue with the use of the pictures. Most people will agree if asked.

Thanks, Bob. I'll contact you to follow up on this situation. It's possible there might be a copyright issue if someone other than the owner "takes" pictures from one public forum (such as eBay) and presents them on another public forum. I suppose as long as there is no charge for viewing them, it may not involve a legal issue.
