1964 Sept/Oct toploader

I was looking through the hipo book 3rd edition and noticed that the toploader tags were HEH-S, HEH-T or HEH-BX. Where does the HEH-P fit? What one of these is correct for my car? It seems from the toploader chart the HEH-P looks to be the right one, but the book does not offer it. Any Help? Thanks

Could you please tell us what the manufacture year and month your Kar is?

Tim, The HEH-P is a 25 spline output wide ratio trans for a standard 289 Mustang. It is not for a Hipo. Your Kar will need an HEH-T which is a 28 spline output close ratio trans.

I have an HEH-P tranny with a 28 spline shaft which also feels like a close ratio. I believe the guts were swapped from the original BX tranny from my kar...

It is for sale if anyone is interested.

Merlyn, You might count the teeth on the second gear. If it has 28 teeth then it is a close ratio for sure.
