I'm doing research for a future car purchase.
Would appreciate if anyone could tell me if the 67 K code gt or gta came standard with an 8000k tach??? and 140 speedometer like the Shelby??? If not was this an option at the time?
Thanks

Yes it came with both.
My 15E Milpitas/San Jose built 67K GT has the 120mph speed-o-meter with odometer and the 6K tach (no red-line). I have NO reason to believe that this was not the the original setup from the factory! A build sheet that I have seen for a "7T02" K indicates "X" for the tachometer without regard to 6K or 8K. I personally think that since so few 67K Mustangs came down the same San Jose assembly line as the 1,175 Shelby destined K's, that the 8K tachs were not always available...hence, mine and perhaps many other "7R0x" K's were assembled with the more common 6K versions.
Again, there were both 6K and 8K, as well as the 120mph and 140mph speed-o-meters in the 67Ks.
Can any owners of Dearborn or Metuchen 67Ks report having the 120mph/6K versions?
bfit & 67KBob,
Here are a couple of threads talking about this subject:

BTW Bob, my Dearborn '67 KGT fastback has a 6k tach and a 120mph speedometer. I still think that is the way she came from the factory. I have talked with Jim Chism about this topic. FWIW, he felt whatever tach, 6k or 8k, was in stock at the time got used.
Hey Brinks3447, what did your red '67 Koupe have in it for instrumentation?
Tom
Here's a thread talking about the fact that NOT all '67 K-codes got tachs!

Yep my 1967 Coupe has a 8k tac and 140 speedometer. It is also a Dearborn car. It was also built very late in 1967, that might have something to do with it. I found out alot of interesting things about the car recently. The seats in the car seem to be original to the car and they are 1968 seats. Also the rear view mirror and the side mirror are 1968 and they seem original to the car. Ford did a lot of weird things so you never know.
Here is a 67'K GT Dearborn, April build date. With 8K, 140MPH.

Thanks to all of you for the helpful info!!!!
A 140 mph speedometer was available at all Ford dealers for 1967 thru 1970 Mustangs. I ordered one and put it in my 1969 Sportsroof. I would also not be surprised if it could be ordered as a factory installed option.
