65 HiPo Equalizer Bar

  • Hi guys,

Have a qustion for you, as regards the original 65 HiPo

    Equalizer Bar:

On which side of the pipe is the down pointing bracket

(connecting the rod to the shift fork) welded, towards the front

or towards the rear when mounted?

My friend's car has it welded towards the rear and my

NOS Ford replacement bar has it welded towards the front when mounted. Looked at different vendors repos and they are different as well, some welded towards the front and others welded towards the rear. Thanks for your help.

  • I have both 65 and 66 originals and the lower arm is welded with the angle forward. If it was not this way, you would have less travel in a straight line for the lower clutch rod. This could give you a less clean clutch disengagement which would not be good.

  • Thanks Dave,

That's the way my 65 bar is as well. As said above

I bought it at a Denver Ford place in 1991 and it had the

Ford tag on it. This means I don't have to change it.
