What was changed for the 'R' version to reach 350HP?

Major Head work (Valley Head Service I think), cam, disty curve, etc.
Shelby's crew had tons of go fast experience, so anything you could throw at it they did.
By the rules he could modify the engine all he wanted because the street and R models shared the same chassis mods in '65.

I should have been more specific. What cam was used? Was it the LeMans? Were the pistons changed? I looked around the WEB but couldn't find any specifics. If any one knows of a site please post.
Along those lines, how does the LeMans cam work with stock valve sizes? I guess at the least you would need to gasket match the ports. How about valve clearence. What lift can you get away with with stock pistons?

One of the things that was done by Shelby was to remove the three front half-inch freeze plugs for the oil galleries and thread them for screw-in plugs. This was for reliability purposes.
