In addition to the standard 2 piece brace, did all convertibles come with the longer pipe like brace that goes from the firewall to the inner fender apron? If they did not all come with it , what year did it start?

I don't think all convertibles came with the extra bracing. Early 'verts don't have it. My '65 A-code is a transition car and it didn't have it. My understanding is that it was introduced sometime after the 64 1/2 - 65 transition due to customer complaints. Hope this helps.

Ford had vibration complaints and the braces were added after production started. There was supposed to be a TSB (technical service bulletin) issued when they started the change. I've never seen the publication but one of the convertible owners here might be able to help you find a copy.

I asked that questions because I have 5 k convertibles and only one of them has that extra brace. If I find anything out I'll post it.

The long engine bay braces and dash brace were added sometime around November '64.

My father's K convert has them.A Dearborn car built Nov. of '64.
