Hi all - It's been awhile. I am trying to locat the K Code Fastback GT that I sold two years ago. VIN is 6F09K161501. It's ivy green with a ton of options (console, rally pac, pony inteior). It was pretty well restored when I sold it. I can't seem to find the paperwork and the I can't for the life of me remember the guys name. I think he was in Washington State (Vancouver?). Anyway, the original owner's daughter contacted me. The original owner is still with us and I would love to gather more history on the kar and pass it on to the new owner. The registry says that the kar was last noted in Kentucky, but I don't think that is right unless the guy I sold it to sold it to someone else. I was supposed to have first dibs on buying it back, but you know how that goes. Anyway, I would appreciate any help you may have to give.

    Thanks,

    John

Does anyone have a pic of the proper way to support the heater hoses? As I recall there was a small leather strap that wrapped around one or both of the heater hoses and held them up against the passenger side shock tower to cowl support. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Is this item available from any suppliers?

In doing some research for folks looking at my car, I have come across some interesting dates.

It seems that the casting date on my block is November 16, 1965. The production date on the warranty tag is November 15, 1965, but I realize these can be a month or more off. The engine assembly date is November 18. The carb is a November carb. Everything says november, but the casting date being one day after the production date is a little wierd.

In other news, one of the folks looking at the car has some contacts with the MCA. When I bought the car, it had an MCA sticker in the window. It seems that the fellow's contact knows some of the history of my car and he was able to confirm not only that the mis-stamping of the 8 instead of a 9 on the engine and tranny were a Ford mistake, but also that the car is a true GT. I am trying to get in touch with this MCA guy to find out more.

Charles - As an MCA insider, what kind of records and information does the MCA keep on cars? Is there any way to track the history of a car as it relates to the MCA?

FWIW - I installed a GT style exhaust system complete with H-pipe, mufflers, resonators and all the other pipes from KAR. It fit like a glove. While they are a bit more expensive, they were the only vendor that seemed to truly understand what I needed. I would give them a call. They seemed pretty knowledgable, particularly about K-code exhausts.

Agree with others on the speed problems. I have noticed however, that we seem to be getting a lot of new members lately. They don't all post, but they are at least interested.

This site is a great asset. Having our own site enhances the value and status of K-codes as collector cars. Sometimes, however, this place feels like a ghost town.

I am curious as to how many of you with original cars have the limited slip trac loc rearend. My car has this option. I am curious as to how rare it is. If I recall correctly, it wasn't offered in high powered cars until 1966. Perhaps some of our experts can refresh my memory as to why it wasn't offered until '66.

So far, this car hasn't gotten much traction. I sent pics to about 10 folks and have been offered a K vert as a trade. No one has actually seen the car in person.

Even if you aren't interested how about taking a look at the car in the link above and give me your opinions. I am about at the point of just recovering the front seats and replacing the dash pad. At that point, the car will need nothing. I would also like your opinions on the pricing. I felt like $40k for a numbers matching K fastback GT with all of its hard to find parts (except the fuel pump) was pretty fair. Am I wrong?

Since none of us can seem to get our hands on original K-code fuel pumps, I am looking for recomendations on an aftermarket fuel pump capable of keeping up with a hipo engine. Right now I am running a stock early Mustang Carter pump. However, I would like to see if there is a big difference in performance utilizing a high performance pump. Any recomendations?

I have a '66 hipo carb for sale.

    Tag reads:

    C6ZF-C

    B 5JD

It definitely needs to be rebuilt as the rear accelerator pump lever is broken. Also, the choke mechanism isn't done correctly. However, this is a real hipo carb as it lacks the hot idle compensator and has the choke stop cast in. 6ZC is stamped on the foot. The only other blemish, other than being dirty, is that one of the mounting holes appears to have been overbored.

I can email pics to those interested. If it doesn't sell here, its off to ebay.
