1966K Tri-Y Removal

  • I am in the process of removing my Tri-Y headers for bead blasting and refinishing. I was able to remove the RHS header easily. The LHS though is trapped between the motor mount, wheel well, Z-Bar pivot, and oil pan. After looking at that long list of clashing items it seems like the easiest way to get it out would be to take down the Z-Bar. Is this a simple remove/reinstall or will removing the Z-Bar throw my clutch out of rig?

  • Removing and replacing the Z-bar is very easy and will only take a couple of minutes. If done properly, your clutch adjustment will stay the same.

  • Thanks Fred,

Looks like way to remove the bar (after removing springs/linkages top and bottom) is to loose the bolts holding the outer mount bracket to the torque box, correct?
