René, getting the original High Performance Manual supplement is awesome. There are repops of these available but finding your original is a great score!

Rene', that is so cool that you found him and got all that info!!I have never personally seen that color to my knowledge, and since my Kar was an unknown color[ no color on the data plate] I am curious about all colors in the 'gold' range. My original owner died and the Kar went to a Corvette collector who bought it as a condition for buying a Corvette. I am planning on trying to find his son, but am a long way away and its way down the list, and not even on the ' honey-do' list. good luck.<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey Rene -

Since I don't have a HiPo anymore I don't check the site often and just today I stumbled across your thread. This floors me as well since I am the guy that sold you the car and the fellow that sold it to me never made mention of a color change. It sounds like it happened years and years ago though so I do feel a little better. Is rangoon red mentioned in any of the original paperwork that followed the car? I cannot remember but I am sure that you have checked. One thing for sure though, if it was changed to red, somebody had to do it when the car was stripped down to nothing because I never found a hint of any other color on the car.

Hey David.

Always good to hear from you <img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. There is no mention of Rangoon Red that I have found in the paperwork. I know that the earliest (so far) the car was changed to RR was in 1981 as I have 1981 dated photos of the car in RR included in the paperwork. I'm yet to contact the owner of the car who bought it in 1979, but I have his details and he's still with us. I'm guessing he's the one who changed the colour as there is a ton of receipts with his name on them, so I'm gathering he rebuilt the car, maybe, a very big maybe, he has the original door plate.

I sent a photo of the door plate to someone in here and they told me it's a repo plate.

What was the name of the guy you bought the car from?
