C4 transmission leak

I have a leak at the Nuetral safety switch. Fluid leak around the switch. I have ordered a manual - not here yet!! Is there a seal on the shaft that comes out of the tranny and leaks around this switch or is there a seal below it?

Also the shifter is quite sloppy. When in reverse the reverse lites are not on. you have to be between revers and nuetral for lights to come on. Is there an adjustment on the switch or is the linkage worn out?

The linkages seem quite sloppy? Is there a rebuild kit for this linkage?

Yes, it will have an o-ring on the shaft. The linkage is quick and easy to fix. A couple of plastic bushings should tighten it up some. They were never precise, even when new.

There is also an actual shift shaft seal plus the "O" ring. The seal is the more likely of the two to leak. In order to replace the seal you need to drop the trans pan as you will need to remove the nut on the shift shaft and pull out the shift shaft to replace the seal. It is not that tough of a job but it can be a very messy one.

I was working on a 63 galaxie 390 cu in with a cruisomatic fmx cast iron case, there is a leak at the gear selector shaft seal would i have to drop the valve body to replace that seal.
