Standard '65 Tire Sticker

  • Wow!!! Thanks for THIS picture, it confirms to me that the folks on the assembly line who placed these stickers were not real particular how they placed them, this is how mine looked originally.

I guess I should clairify that I am trying to find out where the tire pressure sticker/decal should go......I understand that the sticker is a "may or may not have" type thing acording to the MCA rules......I have the dual Red Band sticker on my Glovebox door....just wanting to know about the standard tire sticker...

  • From the MCA RuleS:

"D. Tire Pressure Decal: 65 - may or may not have decal. 66 - in glove box on back left corner or on inside of glove box door. 65-66 - Red Line tires must have Red Line decal on glove box door. T5 may have MUSTANG deleted ......... 1"

  • I understand this.

IF I want to install the decal on my car where does it go?

OR does the dual red band one on the glovebox door trump the need for the standard one?

Is there a different ( unique ) decal for Red line tires ?

  • Mark, Yes, There is a small decal/sticker with info on the "High Speed" Dual Red Band Tires.......I'm guessing that either no one knows where the STANDARD '65 tire spec decal/sticker goes or IF my July 1965 Dearborn Kar "should" have it......MY guess is in the glove box itself, I've really never taken notice of it at shows, thats why I'm asking.

There has got to be some criteria on the use of either/or sticker.

Here are the 2 spec stickers for '65s

  • Thanks Rick. I have the standard decal in the rear of the glovebox. I am now as curiuos as you as to whether we need both, or the redline one only, and location.

    Thanks

    Mark

    13th April 1965 Dearborn.

  • Mark, The only real reason anyone would "need" the special Dual Red Ring sticker would be if they indeed HAD the dual red tires on their car-(I think someday when I start driving my Kar alot I'll go to Dual Red Band RADIALS)My Kar currently has the (incorrect brand) BF Goodrich 695X14 dual reds (bias ply)

I'm certainly not trying to over-think this sticker stuff, I'm just curious-I'm not one of the folks that feels I must use all the stickers and decals that came in a package either.

The Dual Red decal goes on the glove box door (inside) on the left side just away from the drink holder.

  • I agree. I have only the bare minimum on the decal front. I was curious as to what decals were in fact fitted as to one or both.

    Thanks for the location.

There are not too many MCA judges hiding out round here, but I am trying to get a little of it right<img src=images/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

  • As round2k indicated a 65 without red line tires may or may not have a tire pressure decal in the glovebox. If it does have one it should be in the back left corner or on the door. A 66 has to have one or you lose a point. If the car has redlines it must have a red line tire pressure decal on the door. This applies to both 65 and 66. All that said it's only a one point deduction if its wrong or missing.

OK, Then IF a car DOES NOT have dual red ring tires it CAN have the STANDARD decal.....you mention 2 locations....is it plant specific, time period specific?? or possible assembly line worker judgement?

And being as you are a judge, you certainly understand points do add up, and all I'm trying to do is make my Kar as right as I can so I loose as few points as I can at the next show that I attend.
