choke knob location under dash

Ok ive been trying to remember where the knob was on the dash of my oct 64 dearborn car. from what i see on this site is that it should be mounted on the far left hand side. But heres the problem my car has the 65 emergency flasher switch mounted in the d shaped hole in the dash on the far left hand side. then the parking brake and the vent knob. Ive tried puting it on the right side of the wheel but its makes the cable way to long in the engine compartment. Ok so if anybody has any ideas about this one please let me know. Many thanks guys.

There should be ample space for the choke control along with the emergency flasher switch and vent control on the left side of the steering column...All three are set up that way on mine.

great thank you very much i found the hole that it goes into. i thought it was an alinement hole.
