Just curious if anyone has thought of using an ultraviolet light or blacklight to make markings show up? I'm not absolutely sure it would work, but I was thinking of giving it a try.

Lyle, I think this is an interesting idea worth pursuing. Many pigments have fluorescent properties that can be exposed by UV illumination and would be harder to detect in the visible range.
I just got a cheap light ($10) and special UV protecting flourescence-enhancing goggles ($20)from The Blacklight Shop online. As soon as I get to try it on the car, I'll report back.
I did try it briefly on a lightswitch in the house and it made the tiny paint splatters on it glow. I guess a lot of people buy them to find scorpions in their backyards.

Well, the results are in. I got no flourescing from the paint markings on my car. So much for that $30, but it was worth a shot for the hobby.

You do know what those CSI type folks look for with that equipment....yuk!![]()
I'm getting anxious to paint. I've been waiting in prep mode for so long for the right combination of available time and weather cooperation. Looks like another skunked weekend for me.
But Troy... The weather's great this week. Just take ANOTHER week off. Just watch out for those tough MN scorpions (I think they call 'em mosquitos around here)![]()
Thanks for trying Lyle. Keep the black light, I hear those psychedelic Hendrix posters from the 70's are making a come back.
