Special Exhaust Clamps

  • I am looking at pictures in the current VA Mustang catalog of the EH-53 clamp and it is the more rounded one and it states they are used for holding the rear exhaust extensions in place-I'm assuming either the GT or standard dual exhaust tips? are these clamps in fact the correct ones to use in this location?

Also they list the EH-931 clamp which is the more flat one and state that its used to hold the "H" pipe and the intermideate (sp) pipes together...is this in fact correct info?

The reason I ask is that if the info that VA is listing is correct then the 2 sets of clamps were switched as my cas was restored-simple fix but wanted to confirm.

  • Wow! I guess this one is a stumper....I wish I knew how to post a link to the pics in the VA catalog for reference.....

Charles, This is the clamp you pointed out at Charlotte on my car, and I am just now getting into investigating....I couldn't see what you ment until I printed out a picture and took it out to the car with me....

Not all of them had that clamp that is a later production 66 style clamp. the 65 cars had a band type clamp.

On the GT style system, there is a band clamp and also the saddle-style exhaust clamp. The saddle exhaust clamp holds the extension to the rear tail pipe and then the band clamp holds the pipe assy. up to the rear frame rail hangers. The Arvinode dual exhaust system used only a large band clamp in the rear (around the resonator) with the turn-downs welded into the rear tail pipes.

  • Here are the clamps

  • Thanks guys very much!! Its just a simple matter that during the installation of the exhaust system on my car during restoration these 2 uniquely different sets of clamps were reversed-EH-53s are on the front at the intermideate pipe and the EH-931s are in the rear at the extensions-no biggie, I'll just crawl under the car and swap them!

AND: THANKS Brant for the pics!!!! You guys there at VA Mustang were certainly a pleasure to deal with during my cars restoration, and I will be putting in a small order of little stuff soon as I do some fine tweeking on it.

  • Guys, I just went to swap out these clamps and found that since the EH53s are like a horse shoe that they won't slip over the pipe...do I need to loosen the extension and slip it off the resonator & then slip the EH53 on??

I did not think about that, but yes, you probably will. That is a weird clamp.
