Belt line weatherstrips

  • Hi Guys

I have been searching but cant seem to find any info on this.

The weather strips on my FB are almost bald. I cannot see how they are held on, I found 1 screw on the outer near the door handle but thats all.

Does the window have to come out to replace these? and are they screwed or riveted to the door ?

Is this somewhere I really dont want to be going ?

I see NPD do a concours set, does anyone have any experience of these or know of a better set.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

  • Mark,

There is a push in clip fastened to the back of the weatherstrip. You can pull the door panel and get in behind some of the clips and help them out, or get between the door and the back of the weatherstrip with a flat tool. Be careful to avoid chipping the paint. It's easier to do if the window is all the way down in to door to the bottom of the regulator travel.

The repros are OK at best. If you can get NOS you will probably be happier. If you get a replacement part in your hands before you take them out you'll have a decent roadmap.

  • As an added note to Daves post, while you have the door panel removed, also remove the large lower window stop rubber block. That will get the window down and out of your way.

  • Thanks fellas

Have removed the screw and gently got a couple of the clips to let go. I will leave it be now until I have some replacemnts.

Has anyone tried cleaning off all the fuzz and glueing on some new fuzz from a similar weatherstrip?

  • Mark, Replacing the fuzz would be like glueing the feathers back on a chicken. <img src=images/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> Do not waste your time. If you need NOS belt line weatherstrips, just contact me as I have some available.
