Trunk Lid allignment??

  • The deck lid on my car ('65 Convertible) isn't fitting the way I'd like it to: the edge/lip closest to the lock is "IN" about 1/8" further than the quarter extension at the right side and "OUT" almost 1/4" at the left quarter extension-also is a little high on the left side.

I have been advised that the weatherstripping could be causing some of my trouble, it appears to have been installed correctly, the trunk lid has to be closed harder than I would like to have it latch.

Any suggestions? I'd sure appreciate it.

  • If the gap is even across the back between the decklid and rear devider then its lined up, nothing else can be done. post some pictures. What I think you are saying is that the decklid is off on a side. I have seen alot of unrestored cars with the decklid being off on the left side of the car. this is fairly common. Mustangs were built without any quality control. I just reciently seen a unrestored two digit shelby with the issue above, sorry but in my opinion thats how they are.

Just because the cars were unrestored doesn't mean they are as they were when they rolled off the line;) Plenty of examples and documentation (original travelers/inspectors forms found in cars) showing that when something did not pass inspection it was redone.

Have met a number of inspectors from the plants and I'm sure they earned their pay as much as any of us believe we do.

Not to say they were all perfect - but allot better than some owners would make them out to be IMHO

  • I use tinypic.com

No need to sign on etc.

Have your pics on your computor say in my pictures.

On the tinypic homepage there will be a screen that says upload pictures

On this screen you will see a resize button and a drop down arrow

Drop down and click on message board (640x480)

Click on browse, go into my pictures find image, click open.

    On tinypic screen click upload

When uploaded your image will appear

Next to the image will be some text in boxes, left click and highlight the line that says :- IMG code for forums and message boards. Right click on this line. and copy.

Open another tab with the HPM exchange, type your message, under your message, right click and paste, the IMG code should appear

    YOU'VE DONE IT!!

I have an account with Photobucket. Upload them there (from my computer once they are resized), once uploaded copy the location of where they are located (from below the picture there) then insert that address into my post and it just appears
