Original wire harness protection

  • Hi Guys

Has anybody a picture of a wire harness that is protected

with this cotton stuff? Like it was used for the harness

going to the tail lights. The wires where in sort of cotton

hose. I need a picture how this used to look. Because in my

cars all of that stuff is gone and broken off the harness

    over the years.

    Thanks Jerry

  • Jerry,

That's asphalt coated fabric wire loom. It's used in certain places in the trunk looms and a short piece is on the tag light. We will need to know what body style you have. There are a couple of suppliers that still make it.

  • Hi Dave

    Thanks for the reply.

First off sorry fo my questions that might be not as

specified as you guys wish. I still have to learn that

there are big differeces between production plants and

    like you now say bodystyles.

It is a 65 San Jose Fastback. Could it be that it was green?

    Thanks Jerry

  • Jerry,

Here in the Dallas area there used to be a guy by the name

of Pat White III who restored wire harnesses. He restored my

tail light and engine feed harnesses and did an excellent job. However, I don't think he is around anymore doing this type of work.

You are probably best off by buying from the guy specified above and do the job yourself.
